Selfarama is an Australian business making personalised printed picture books. This page covers both our terms of service and what we do with your data. Questions: have a look at the FAQs.
Using the site
- You upload a photo and we generate a complete book for you to look at, free, before you pay anything.
- Upload photos you have the right to use — your child, or a child you are responsible for.
- Illustrations are generated from your photo. They are an artistic interpretation, not a portrait.
- Your book lives at a private link. Anyone with that link can see it, so share it only with people you want to.
Buying a book
- Prices are shown in your local currency. Australian prices include GST. Orders outside Australia are sent without Australian tax; any import duty is yours to pay.
- Shipping is charged separately and shown before you pay.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Books are printed to order by our print partner and shipped to you.
Changes, cancellations and problems
- Once a book has gone to print we cannot change or cancel it — it is made for one person and cannot be resold.
- If your book arrives damaged, misprinted, or not what you ordered, email us and we will sort it out.
- Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Your data
We ask for as little as we can, and we do not sell any of it.
- The photo — used to illustrate your book, and stored so you can come back to it and so we can reprint if something goes wrong.
- The child’s first name and whether they are a boy or a girl — so the story reads correctly. We do not ask for a surname or a date of birth.
- Your email — to send you the link to your book and updates about your order.
- Your delivery address — collected by Stripe at checkout, and passed to our print partner so they can post the book.
We use a small number of providers to do this: an illustration provider, a print partner, Stripe for payment, an email provider, and analytics to understand how the site is used. Each gets only what it needs.
If you want your data deleted, email us and we will do it, apart from records we are legally required to keep for tax.
